The HJPC BiH visits judicial institutions in Mrkonjic Grad, Zepce, Prnjavor and Zenica
The delegation of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina visited the judicial institutions, whose facilities, in the coming period, shall be renovated or relocated to the newly constructed buildings in order to ensure adequate conditions for their work.
The Director of the Secretariat of the HJPC BiH, Mr. Admir Suljagić, and the team engaged in the Improving Court Efficiency and Accountability of Judges and Prosecutors in BiH Project, implemented with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency – SIDA, visited judicial institutions in Mrkonjic Grad, Prnjavor, Zepce and Zenica. The Secretariat of the HJPC BiH, with the financial support of the Government of Sweden and the Government of Norway, ensured the preparation of project documentation for the renovation and construction of the buildings of these four judicial institutions.
The project documentation, which is a prerequisite for the start of works, envisages the following: construction of a completely new building of the Municipal Court in Zepce, renovation of the existing part with construction of the new part of the Municipal Court in Zenica building, and renovation of the Basic Court in Prnjavor and Basic Court in Mrkonjic Grad buildings.
The buildings currently occupied by these judicial institutions cannot meet the needs of quality and efficient judiciary adapted to the needs of citizens, which is why the renovation of existing and construction of new facilities is of exceptional importance in establishing a judicial system that will serve citizens.
According to the solutions offered in the project documentation, the construction and renovation of facilities will ensure significant improvements in the field of functionality, accessibility for people with mobility difficulties, facility safety and energy efficiency.
For many years, the HJPC BiH, with the support of international partners, implements projects for the renovation of the buildings of judicial institutions, in order to ensure their functional and efficient work.
The value of the provided project documentation is approx. 160 000 BAM. The Government of Sweden funded the preparation of project documentation for renovation and construction of the buildings of judicial institutions in Zepce, Mrkonjic Grad and Prnjavor, while the Government of Norway provided the funds for the preparation of project documentation for the renovation of the Municipal Court in Zenica. The Delegation of European Union shall provide funds for the construction and renovation of buildings to BiH, within the IPA 2017 program.
During the visit, meetings with the representatives of these judicial institutions took place, where the results achieved during the previous years were discussed, but also the ways to overcome the challenges caused by the COVID-19 virus pandemic.
